We produce in Venetia, ethically

We rely on artisans who respect people and the territory and who are aware that working in excellence is for the common good.

Ethics and sustainability

There ‘s a lot of talking about environmental sustainability these days. But… what do we mean by environmental sustainability? According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, “sustainability is understood as a form of intergenerational ethics in which the environmental and economic actions taken by present persons do not diminish the opportunities of future persons to enjoy similar levels of wealth, utility, or welfare.”.

To perform environmental sustainability, therefore, we need to act so as not to deplete or irreversibly contaminate the Earth resources. Hence, it is necessary to use water, air, soil and vegetation wisely but also to avoid that such resources are contaminated by human activities and by the materials and processes used to perform them, with the objective of preserving them for future generations.

Sustainable leather

Among ValierVenetia’s values there is also the will to contribute to safeguard the Earth and to have the least possible impact on Nature. For this reason and starting from the awareness that the production of leather is a complex process with a heavy environmental impact, ValierVenetia has chosen to use only sustainable leather, certified according to strict official criteria. Our leather is produced by Gruppo Mastrotto from Arzignano (Vicenza, Italy). It is guaranteed by the German federal certification Blauer Engel.

Blauer Engel certification guarantees:

  • Reduced water consumption throughout the production process
  • Use of raw materials manufactured in a sustainable way
  • Absence of harmful effects on health and environment, thanks to low emissions
  • Easy recycling

The choice of leathers is a highly important part of the bag-making process. We wanted a leather with a textured feel, living, natural, scratchproof and strong. That is why we have selected drummed leather over nappa leather, which is less suitable for bags that should last and withstand a hard working life.
